As their summer camp experience ends, our summer campers graduate to our teen Leadership Development Program (LDP). LDP is where we focus on peer-to-peer interaction, life skills and continuity of relationships that were built at summer camp. Instead of week of camp in the summer, LDP offers weekend retreats and life-skills events.
At LDP, we move away from the 1:1 camper counselor pairing from summer camp and mentor as a group. We focus on life skills, leadership skills, building strong relationships, and planning for their future. We hold weekend retreats that focus on different leaderships, all while continuing our emphasis and focus on Camp Horizon’s 3 R’s- Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience.
While we are not always able to keep up with teens who move out of our region or who don’t stay in touch, we try our best to ensure that our campers know and believe that we are here for them, providing the unconditional support every growing teen needs to not only survive, but to thrive. LDP does exactly that.
