Restoring dignity and hope to children in foster care in the state of Georgia
Board of Directors
“I love the Camp Horizon family. Everyone gets involved with camp to serve the kids, but soon after they also realize how incredible all the volunteers are.”
"I’m inspired by our campers’ resilience during summer camp and watching them transition into peer leaders through our Leadership Development Program. I’m also inspired by seeing our volunteers transition from summer camp counselors into leaders within this organization"
Jeff values the life changing ability of Camp Horizon as shown by two young men that he considers his “sons”, now 25 and 30, that he met when they were just 8 years old.
"I love the Camp Horizon family...the kids, volunteers, and staff who make Camp Horizon so special inspire me every day. The kids remind me of the things in life that really matter through their innocence and how much they just love and want to be loved. The staff and volunteers inspire me through their passion and selfless commitment. It is an incredible group of people"
Susan cherishes the resilience in our young campers and realizes the significance in creating an environment in which many of them feel safe and valued for the first time.
Clifton is inspired by the volunteers who give their time and the vulnerable children who are trying to make sense of life.
"Camp Horizon connects with the children involved and provides them a path of hope, respect, and possibilities for a future that in many cases, seems very bleak from the child's perspective"
Andrew loves Camp Horizon for its ability to create a family environment and show love to children in foster care.
"Camp Horizon is able to teach kids in one week that they are worthy and deserving of being safe and cared for, and that lesson follows them long after they have left camp"
My favorite Camp Horizon memory was when I was invited to visit camp in 2016. As a donor, it was amazing to see what a difference these contributions made in the lives of the campers. It was an amazing and emotional day that left me wanting to do more for Camp Horizon.
Marian looks forward to providing her perspective on being able to relate to the kids in foster care on a personal level and bringing new ideas to the organization to make an increased impact on the youth in foster care in the greater Atlanta area.
Camp Horizon was recognized as a 2014 Top-Rated Nonprofit by the Great Nonprofits organization.
